The History of Aleppo Soap:

The history of Ghar Soap is quite obscure, and subject to much speculation and empty claims of fact. It is fair to say that Aleppo is the last remaining center of this ancient soap making process, and thus the soap produced there does have some sense of antiquity.

Ingredients and Process of Production :

The main constituents of Ghar soap are Olive oil and Laurel Oil. The olive oil used is pressed from the left-over of prior olive pressings, a green color because of the high amounts of chlorophyll (the organic compound which makes all plants green) in the pumice. Laurel oil is very expensive, and obtained, through various means, from any part of the bay laurel tree. It is thought to have high antiseptic and ant-oxidative qualities. It also adds a nice scent to the soap. It is fair to say that Aleppo is the last remaining center of this ancient soap making process, and thus the soap produced there does have some sense of antiquity. But the claim that it is the birthplace of soap making is not well-founded. We have different packs of this luxurious soap with large variety. It has different senses as Jasmine, roses, Oud, Misk and other smells. In addition to some other types which are used to treat some dermatological disorders as psoriasis.
